2nd to 7th February 2020

From £995 per person

Join myself and Dave Fieldhouse to explore the Lake District in all its winter glory - you can be assured you’re in good hands where you will benefit from the detailed knowledge of two multi award-winning Landscape Photographers.

The Workshop is limited to 7 participants across two tutors to ensure you get a generous amount of dedicated tuition time.

Our base will be at the wonderful Wallthwaite Farmhouse (see images below courtesy of Sally’s Cottages), which sits close to the magnificent Blencathra and just a 10 minute drive from Keswick.

“Benefiting from a huge garden with staggering views of mighty Blencathra and sitting just nearby a working farm it is a truly magical place to pass a Lake District holiday. With a host of period details such as exposed beams, ornate open fireplaces, wood panelling and even a reinforced glass window down into an ancient well beneath the house it really has personality oozing from every nook and cranny.”

We will meet Sunday evening on the 2nd February, with tuition beginning on Monday at Sunrise running until Thursday evening, with everyone leaving on Friday morning. Accommodation will be provided on a self-catering basis. Breakfast and snacks will be provided across all days although you are free to bring/purchase your own food, there is a local Booth’s supermarket in Keswick 10-15 minutes drive away. It’s most likely we’ll eat out a couple of evenings though this can be decided between the group at the time.

There are 6 bedrooms in the farmhouse, 4 of which can be purchased as single occupancy, the remaining two are twin rooms. Self-catering allows the group to be flexible with coming and going depending on the weather - no two days (or even two hours!) are the same in the Lake District, so being able to best take advantage of changing conditions is crucial.

My workshops are run in a relaxed, friendly manner and are aimed at photographers of all levels. Days in the field are planned flexibly and on a day-by-day basis. It’s important not to be too rigid in terms of locations, as the weather is constantly changing. What I can guarantee is that I have intimate local knowledge of the Lake District being based here full-time unlike many workshop leaders, and I will get you to high-quality locations each day that will get the best out of the conditions on offer. We will aim as a broad-base to work in locations around:

  • Derwentwater & Borrowdale

  • Crummock Water & Buttermere

  • Wasdale & Eskdale

  • Great Langdale

Post processing sessions & talks

Both myself and Dave will be on hand to provide advice and post-processing sessions in the evenings, these will be organised throughout the week. This will allow freedom for discussion and feedback on your images. We’ll also both give an interactive talk based on our own approaches to Landscape Photography which we hope you’ll find beneficial.
